faces of his teammates as they walked slowly toward the practice field. Maybe, just maybe, the smash- ing together of bodies and the taste of sweat in their mouths would take away the pain of their great loss. But they knew deep down inside that it wouldn't. The remembrance of that eager young face would be there every time they put on that uniform. He loved the game. When he put on the colors of his school, he was a different person. He changed from the care-free kid that he was, to a hard-nosed tobacco chewing ballplayer, who didn't know the meaning of the word QUIT! By Ron Pack It was lonely— standing silently, feeling the sweat bum our eyes. So we shouted, and our throats pained with voice, Our mouth guards dried and helmets shrunk, all to the rounds of mellowness, to the smell of flowers, to the casket's hour. A Tribute to Kay Tolson The student body of Twin Bridges was grieved to hear of the tragic death of Ray Tolson of Sheridan. To all of us, his fierce competitiveness and his friendly spirit will surely be missed. i feel, as I'm sure others feel, that the best tribute we can give to Ray is to reflect what he did and more important how he did it, in our school associations and in our lives, Twenty-two men, out together and each alone. And lonelier being together. We had no way out, but to make a team of twenty-two fight as twenty-three. The students of Sheridan High School were shocked and grieved when the news of the car wreck which took the life of a fellow classmate, Ray Tolson, was received Septem- ber 6. Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Tolson, had resided in Sheridan since birth and attended both grade school and high school here. He was active in sports and other extra- curricular activities.
