Our sophomore year was marked by a car wash that turned out to be a successful hole in one. Our class advisor was Mrs. Clarke Raymond, and our carnival king and queen candidates were Lara Larson and John Anderson. John was lucky enough to be crowned king. The sophomore portion of the Amateur Show turned out to be a history of dancing from covered wagon days right up to the modern jogs. We placed third that year. Our heads swelled as we moved into our junior year, which was highlighted by the prom and the Junior-Senior banquet. The theme for our prom was A Summer Place. A swing, a rock wall and gate, and green and pink flowers dominated the scene. The grand march was led by our class president, John Anderson, and the senior queen, Pat Bushman. Doug Smith was next in line as senior class president to escort the junior princess, Lara Larson. Our carnival candidates were Peggy Smail and Don Tolson. The Girls' State delegates were Jane Williams and Carolyn Smail, alternate. John Anderson, Dale Marsh, Nat Todd, and Chuck Marsh, alternate, were chosen for the Boys' State delegates. Our senior year was topped off with Peggy Smail as DAR Good Citizen and carnival king and queen candidates Carol Thomas and Monte Ballou. The Junior Prom, given in our honor, was set to the tune of Love Is Blue. The grand march this year was led by Lara Larson, senior queen, and John Martinell, junior president. Monte Ballou, senior president, crowned Kathy Lueck junior princess. Following the prom, the seniors were honored by the juniors at the Junior-Senior banquet. Senior parents attended for the first time. On May nineteenth, Baccalaureate was held. The main speaker was Rev. Robert Grotzke. As the year drew to a close, Commencement was held on May twenty-fourth with Mr. Alve Thomas as the main speaker. After receiving our diplomas from the chairman of the school board, Mr. Norman Schulz, twenty-one excited graduates left Sheridan High School to venture forth into the big, wide world. 15
