The District Convention was also held in Sheridan for the first time in 8 years, with 150 delegates attending from 8 chapters. Much time and effort went into its preparation. Chapter one begins when fifteen bright and happy first graders start on their journey through the school with Miss Dimachas their leader. The characters are Arthur Bieler, David Braach, James Brandon, D. C. Hodges, Steve Hubner, Dan Mortenson, Mike Reynolds, Eugene Stringham, Keran Dillard Ella Rae Elser, Janice English, Virginia Gainan, Gerda Glick, Ida Johnson, and Carla Salmonsen. The second chapter takes place eight years later. Seven of the original characters have stayed in the story, they are: Gerda Glick, D. C. Hodges, Ella Rae Elser, Ida Johnson, Art Bieler, Carla Salmonsen, and James Brandon. The new personalities added to the original group are Neal Barth, James Burton, James Hansen, David Kelly, Beverly Norton, Mike Perkins, Beverly Peter- son, Bernice Ramer, John Woodward, Gary Stine, and Lanell Tuckerman. This group is last seen together when Mr. Murray hands out their 8th grade diplomas. Chapter three starts off with a bang as the class goes through Frosh Initiation. The class lost two members this year, Jim Hansen and Mike Perkins. Members gained were Shirley Miller, Kayo Eby, Anna Lou Ashcraft, and Phil Smith. Mr. Alve Thomas was the class sponsor. The officers for the year were: Neal Barth, president; Ella Rae Elser, vice president; Gerda Glick, secretary and treasurer; D. C. Hodges, Student Council representative. The chapter closes with all the group looking forward to the next year and revenge upon the innocent Freshman. In chapter four we read that our class officers were; Ella Rae Elser, president; Jim Brandon, vice president; Carla Salmonsen, secretary and treasurer; Gerda Glick, Student Council repre- sentative. This year the class lost five members who were: Neal Barth, Ida Johnson, Kayo Eby, Anna Lou Ashcraft, and Mike Reynolds. Three new members were added: Scott Russell, Vern Klevgard, and Tom Bray. The class was sponsored by Mr. Alve Thomas. A few of the high- lights were the Frosh Initiation, a sleighing party and a swimming party. The next chapter which is the fifth emerges with the following officers: Arthur Bieler, presi- dent; Tom Bray, vice president; Phil Smith, secretary and treasurer; Ella Rae Elser, Student Council representative. The class lost two of its girls, Lanell Tuckerman and Beverly Peterson and gained one boy, Joel Orton. The class had a new advisor this year, Mr. Holmberg. The big event of the year was the Junior Prom. The theme of the prom was Moulin Rouge and the decorations were of red and white with a windmill and sidewalk cafe as the main props. Gerda Glick was elected Junior Princess. The Juniors also Resented the Junior-Senior Banquet honoring the Senior Class of 1954. Those elected to go to Boys' State were Tom Bray, Vern Klevgard, and Jim Burton. Carla Salmonsen was chosen to go to Girls' State. The final thrill in this chap- ter is the receiving of our class rings and what a proud class we were. Our last and grandest chapter opens the usual way with election of officers as follows: Arthur Bieler, president; Gary Stine, vice president; Jim Brandon, secretary and treasurer; Joel Orton, Student Council representative. The class lost Scott Russell and gained Berniece Hunt. The class was at its busiest and most exciting as we plunged headlong into our many activities. Among these some of the most memorable were: the Senior Ball, our trip to Helena to see the Legislature in action and winning first place in the Amateur Show. The class participated in High School Week at Bozeman being represented thereby Vern Klevgard, Carla Salmonsen, and D. C. Hodges. The planning and secrecy of Sneak Day was an unforgettable experience but nothing compared to our final moments of glory as the class finished the Graduation Ceremonies. 45 (?£ Z64 Ti cU We, the Senior Class of 1955, of Sheridan High School, State of Montana, County of Madison, Town of Sheridan, on the corner of Madison and Poplar Streets, being of sound mind and able bodies submit this last will and testament, hereby revoking all previous wills and testaments or promises made by the class or members thereof: To the faculty we leave the schoolhouse in one piece. Diane Jackie 49 A Bright Future Awaits Us Whether we are conscious of it or not, life IS becoming easier . . . considering the amount of physical drudgery that machines do for us today. When we are able to do a job easier and quicker, we can turn our attention to other tasks. That’s the way progress is made. Electricity - only 75 years old, practically speaking - has done much to lighten our burdens. Today in Montana the average resident is using three times as much electrical energy as he did a decade ago. We will continue to use more and more in the future, freeing our hands and our minds for greater accomplishments. In Montana electricity is doubly enjoyable - it’s abun- dant and cheap . . . 13.4 per cent under the national average.
