The poAa.de, honoring the footbalt player , queen candidate and cla princesses and their e cort , tarted the evening' activities. When the parade wo over, everyone gathered at the football f.ield for the cla competition event . Curt Ayer was crowned 1984 Football Homecoming King, ending the event of the day. Homecoming Queen, Brenda Hedge, with her escort, Andy Grlnstead. Friday night the Blackhawk defeated the Clinton Central Bulldog 59 to 3. During half- time, Brenda Hedge, es- corted by Andy Grlnstead, wa crowned Queen. The other queen candidate were Kristi Blrden and Becky Showalter. The band then went to Martinsville for the Regional Marching Contest where they received a division II. The Concert Band also had a successful year with 21 firsts, and 9 seconds at District Solo and Ensemble Contest. The golf team had their best record ever, winning twelve games and losing only two. They set five school records as a team. Nine individual records were set with Scott VanMeter setting 7 of the 9. Steve Spencer set the other 2 and was the first Sheridan golfer ever to get an Eagle. Scott VanMeter shot a 2 under par 34, set the school record season average at 38.65, was chosen on the Al1 Conference and All County teams. They outscored their opponents for the season at 181 to 162. This has been a very aggressive talented team. according to Coach May.
