Page Sixty-three y Ottinger PIIIIPHHZY Senior Sponsors of 1957 Sheridan High School Dear Sponsors, Sheridan, Indiana While walking through town one afternoon, I decided I would buy a car. Being tired of my Caddy I had planned on a smaller car such as a custom model comes. I turn- ed in at the first establishment and who should I find but Ronnie Lambert, designer and build- er of the Lambertmobile. After picking out a small coupe, I took it for a test run accompanied by Ivan Emry who is Ronnie's chief mechanic.Being pleased, I paid my bill and drove out only to be stopped by Noble Smith who was directing traffic at Elliott's comer. When ap- proaching the city, I noticed a big, black, state trooper's car sitting at the comer. Behind the wheel was Dave Hammack reading a copy of MAD COMICS. My first stop out of town was the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Here I found lane Hockey presiding as head nurse. Seeing that she had some time free, I invited her to join me in looking up some old classmates. She consented so we drove for the Circle. On the way, we noticed Elmer Bitner, Fred Gary, Dale Huckleberry, and Paul Skidmore all run- ning their own White Castle stands. Pulling over on Washington Street, we noticed Rosemary Stahl and Rosemary Stone trying to convince people that the King don't care . Approaching the Circle, we noticed Iudy Hinshaw entering Block's with thirty modem dresses under her arm. She was followed by George and Ierry Bailey, who are her chief advisers. Pulling into a parking lot, Iimmy Cline parked the car for us and Doris Bray punched out the ticket. We waved goodbye and proceeded to run into a small foreign sports car be- longing to Phil Inskeep. He said he had had the car for a week and still hadn't found out how to get out of it. Walking through the bus station, we saw Iudy Booth, who was driving for the Sheridan Bus Line. After crossing the slreet, we saw Waneta Gipson and Cecile Green selling gold matches to people who don't smoke but want to put up a good front. Iust down the way is Norman Strawn attempting to educate some pigeons to the facts of municipal government. Seeing some ropes hanging from a building, we looked up and saw Barbara Staley and Francis Walden painting designs on the office building's windows. Not finding anyone else, we drove back to the hospital. I dropped lane off there and headed out of town going toward Ohio. As I approached the Ohio line, I noticed a sign bearing the advertisement Butcher's Boarding House. I decided to stop and was greeted by Neil and Iames Harvey who have a thriving business. Since it was still early, I drove on into Ohio and stopped at a motel in Columbus. Much to my surprise, out walked the proprie- tors Patty Brocato and Diana Hadley. We exchanged greetings, and they informed me of the whereabouts of a few more classmates. It seems that Phyllis Allen, Deanna Eidson, and De- anna Mace are learning how to put the crunch in Peter Pan. Marilyn Biddle, Ianet Bishop, and Fern Bradley are the ones who are staying up all night to make Taystee Bread. After spending an enjoyable night, I wheeled into Pennsylvania and found Ioe Greer, Norman Paddock, and Ion Overdorf polishing the Liberty Bell. Also, I saw Iames McVey and Bemie Watts trying unsuccessfully to start a fight in the city of brotherly love. New York loomed into view after a day of hard driving. I decided to take in some night life and so headed for the great White Way. Here I found Betty Mathews working as a dance choregrapher at the Swank Club. Bidding her goodbye, I ran into Ronnie Heck and Sara Linn who had been painting the town all colors. Right in the middle of the confusion I saw a sign blinking Don't Pay Taxes, Come to Max's. I went in and was confronted by Neal Godby and Dave Elmore who frisked me. After explaining who I was and that I had no intention of raiding them, I was ushered in to see Max. I was checked out the back door by Carolyn Burtron, who offered to take my money. I ran out and jumped into a taxi only to find that it was driven by Ronnie Pickett. He told me that Lois Ross had made cover girl for Vogue magazine, Charles Price was publishing the New York Daily News, and that Irene Grinstead was a top executive at the CBS-TV studio in New York. Letting me out at Macy's, Ronnie bade me goodbye and peeled out for the other side of town. Going into the store, I saw Eddie Davis demonstrating mattresses on the main floor. I discovered that Marzella Graham was head of the sales department too. Being tired, I went to Dodd's Den where Bill Dodd said he would put me up for the night. I was served my supper by Betty Io Mendenhall who was his chief cook and bottle washer. Then I went to bed to dream up some way to get home as I had now seen all my classmates.
