On Awards Night Students Are Honored for Their Achievements This year award night was held on May 15. Honor roll pins were awarded to the students that earned them. Yearbook members, scholarship recipients, and quiz team members were also honored. The Artist of the Year Award was given to senior Jeff Roffey. The recipients of the Vocational Awards of Distinction were: Linda Maxwell (Future Homemakers of America), Jeff Keller (Future Farmers of America), and Melissa Fisher (Office Education Associa- tion). Jeff Keller was also recognized for the Century III Award. The I Dare You Awards were given juniors Deb Anders and Doug Collins. Kaye Denton received the Philip H. Sheridan Social Studies Award. The students who will attend Boys' and Girls' State were recognized as Doug Lentz, Doug Collins, Gary Smith, Traci Shrider, and Becky Crossan. Tricia Jolin and Dorra George, the participants of Presidential Classroom for Young Americans, were also honored. Announcement was made that Annette Cotterman is valedictorian and Cheryl Reinhart is salutatorian for 1984. During a break in the presentations, the Jazz Band provided entertainment for the audience. At the end of the program, the scholarship results were an- nounced and the students on the teams were honored. Presenting the winner of the Lucille Love Out- standing Senior Award to Cheryl Rienhart is Miss Lucille Love, Latin teacher. Class of 1984 Graduates With New Outlook on Life On Sunday, May 27, the members of the class of 1984 assembled for the Bac- calaureate — Commencement in the high school gym. The seniors chose Pink and Baby Blue as their class colors. Pink Sweetheart Roses with Baby Blue ribbon as their class flower, and My Wish For You as their class song. The seniors also selected the quote Time Keeps Flowing Like a River to the Sea, And Its Banks Will Lead Where the Stars Wait for Me as their class motto. The senior class of- ficers were: lames Smith, President; Christina Fouch, Vice-President; Julie Nelson, Secretary; and Tracy Dennis, Treasurer. The Processional was played by the school band and was directed by Nicholas Calderone. The Valedictorian, An- nette Cotterman; Saiutatorian, Cheryl Ann Reinhart; and the members of the Na- tional Honor Society led the senior class onto the stage. The Invocation and Bac- calaureate address was given by Reverend Alvin Kintner of the Olivet Church of the Brethren. After the Valedictory and Salutatory, the seniors sang the class song. In the absence of Superintendent Bert Severance, Principal Richard Fisher presented the Valedictorian and Saiutatorian awards. After the singing of the Alma Mater and the presentation of the class of 1984 by Richard Fisher, diplomas were presented by school board members, Charles Boring, Paul Ream, and Robert Lynn. The high school chorus sang the Benediction and then the band played during the Recessional. Above: Seeming very happy to be receiving her diploma is Amy Wilson. Below: What's this?
