BELOW: Before the Commence ment, senior girls receive their roses. All one's life is music, if one touches the notes rightly and in time — Ruskin On Sunday, May 29, the members of the class of 1983 gathered for the Baccalaureate — Commencement in the high school gym. The seniors chose Pink and Gray as their class colors, Pink Sweetheart Roses with Silver Ribbon as their flower, and “Dream A Dream” as the class song. They also selected a quotation by Etienne De Grellet as the class motto. The senior class officers were: John Tracy, President; Jeff Dawson, Vice-President; Kathy Coble, Secretary; and Jennifer Canaday, Treasurer. The Processional was played by the high school band and was directed by Nicholas Calderone. The Valedictorian, Susan Lynn Shelly; Salutatorian, Lisa Christine Johnson; and the members of the National Honor Society led the senior class onto the stage. The Invocation and Bac- calaureate address was given by Reverend Henry C. Seibert of Thornville Grace Lutheran Church. After the Valedictory and Salutatory, the seniors sang the class song. Superintendent Bert Severance then presented the Valedictorian and Salutatorian awards. After the singing of the Alma Mater and the presentation of the class of 1983 by Principal Richard Fisher, diplomas were presented by school board members, James Hanson and Paul Ream. The high school chorus sang the Benediction and then the band played during the Recessional. ABOVE LEFT: Junior Shawn Shumaker helps usher parents and relatives to their seats.
