Fall Banquet honors football team The 1975 football season marked the beginning of a new and different era in Sheridan High School football history. With a new coach and many different faces in the lineup the Gener- als surprised many by ending the sea- son with a 6-4 record. The Generals momentum got its beginning in the opening game at Fair- field Union where they defeated the Fal- cons in a driving rainstorm. In the sec- ond home game of the year the scarlet and gray upended a highly regarded Crooksville team behind the passing of Rick Dornon and the receiving of Mike Forgrave. Perhaps the highlight of the season came in the homecoming game with West Muskingum. The Big Red upset the undefeated Tornadoes on a ninety-yard kickoff return by Bart Thorpe. The defensive unit asserted itself during the late season when they consecutively shut out River View, John Glenn, and Tri-Valley. The win over John Glenn was the first in history for the Generals at New Concord. At the first-ever Fall Sports Banquet the following people received special awards: Mike Forgrave — Outstanding Offensive Lineman,' Bart Thorpe — Outstanding Offensive Back,' Tim Cot- terman — Outstanding Defensive Line- man,' Rick Dornon — Outstanding Defensive Back and Most Valuable Player. Captains Ken Paxton, Rick Dor- non, and Kerry Theiss also received pla- ques commending their outstanding leadership. Injuries would play an important role against the har- riers in their regular season, but the tough schedule of meets finally paid off.
