DEDIC TIO TO OUR PARE . W,,,,x,,.,, An' N What a wonderful gift God has given to us Our Parents. A lot of times we fail to recognize all of the support and backup they are to us. More than half of the fans at our football games are our parents. Our parents have also participated in our school in such things as Band Boosters, Parent Advisory Committee, etc. Things like this let us know that they care. We know that there are some parents that can't make it to the games and other school activities, but there is another kind of support that may be even more important bringing up their kids and encouraging them to do the right thing. People are always commending our school on how new it looks, being several years old, and how good the moral standards are in our school. This is a compliment to the pride of our school, but equally so it is a compliment to the parents and the example they set for their kids. So, Parents, we want to let you know that we're proud of you and thankful that God gave you to us.

THIS YEAR'S SPECIAL DEDICATIO I T0 R. CARL P. KU ICK f MW .1 f YAY by A s If Q X, f 'f ' x . . I 1 l Eglxbh um' N' v N nz 'X J f fu' 1' ' x -N ,f- I K su Mr. Kusick retired in September 1978 as Assistant Superintendent of Sheridan School District 9942. He came to Sheridan in September of 1952 as a math teacher the first year, became acting principal, and then principal. He headed Sheridan High School for nineteen years and was assistant superinten- dent of the school district for sev- en years. At the time the high school started in 1952, they didn't even have a building: they used two buildings at Fort Logan Army Post, with plywood walls to separate classes, until Christmas of the first year. There were 18 seniors in the first graduating class. Comparing the students of 1952 and 1978, Mr. Kusick said, The school started from scratch, and the students really appreciated having a school of their own. The school pride of the first stu- dent body has carried over all these years, he added. The num- ber of students out for activities shows that they really participate, and the kids have really shown they like their school, said Mr. Kusick. Asked if he had a message for to- day's students, Mr. Kusick said, It is my firm belief that all young people ought to have as much education as they can. This is their opportunity to get a good basis for their responsibilities when they assume their places in today's society. If there's anything that they need, it's a good educational background. Goodbye and good luck, Mr. Ku- sick!
