IS Photography by: Jane Clark SPMJZ Am PAKZJCJPA ZJOJk1 Homecoming reached its annual high for fun and excitement this year. This wouldn't be possible without the school spirit that exists throughout the entire week of homecoming activities. It started Monday, September 22nd, with Hat Day. Tuesday was hat and necktie day; Wednesday, hat, necktie, and mitten day; and the assembly to introduce king and queen candidates. Thursday was mad plaid day and the powderpuff football game. Friday, the 26th of Sept, was the day of the homecoming assembly, parade, game, and dance. Even faculty members got involved in the '75' homecoming spirit; as shown by the photo at right. OMCS AQAJM '' Zime and chance reveal all secrets.”—Manley Honor Society's biggest money-making project of the year is Singing Valentines. This gives a student the chance to send a valentine (poem or song) to the person he or she wishes to. Members of honor society go to each classroom and recite the poem or sing the song that was sent from one person to another. It's not always serious and romantic but often fun and even insulting!? The one drawback? The receiver must stand up on his or her chair for the occasion! 58 cmkjszmas A Z S.M.S., ’ZJS ZMB SB A SOfl ZO MB iIOZjCIJ .. .1976 MAS AKKJVBD. Aurelius 102 105 ICC 107 The Philosophy of Sheridan High School is an outline of set standards and goals. Ten years ago the objectives for faculty members read as follows; In consideration of our pupils, we as teachers at Sheridan High School should: 1. Teach the value of worthy home membership. 2. Teach good study habits and evaluation and self-evaluation. 3. Develop an appreation of literature, art, and music-well-rounded knowledge which is a mark of the educated person. 108 William Avery 109 110 Ill 7. Develop an appetite for learning. 8. Provide adequate guidance in learning to think independently, to make decisions, and to exercise self-control and self-discipline. • 9. After 20 years of working with every type of child and every kind of problem--from having honor students, drop-outs, ditchers, fighters, illnesses, romances, marriages and successful business men women has made life anything but dull for Mrs. Christy in Room 203 in Sheridan High. She estimated that over 15,000 students have been in her study halls over the years and to her, they are all her friends. She assures us that most of the years have been rewarding and a memorable experience but is now ready for a new way of life. v. Taken from the program for her retirement dinner, May 11, 1976. If you think you think, ask yourself what is the greatest thought you ever thought, then listen to the silence. Nov. 2, 1964. A procrastinator is one who puts off until tomorrow the things he's already put off until today. Each year kids say - Were you thinking of me when you wrote this? Criticism is the one thing most of us think is more blessed to give than to receive. Oct, 1962 If it wasn't for the optimist the pessimist would never know how happy he wasn't. This puzzles students G causes a lot of comment. Those who criticize the younger generation seem to forget who raised it! ! He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else. There is no limit to the amount of good you can do, if you don't care who gets the credit. Most students have the spark of genius -- but a few seem to have ignition trouble. An optimist sees a light that isn't there. A pessimist comes along and blows it out. A favorite of all - they stop, read G ponder, then agree. 124 “OKDJJCAKy PSOPCS ZMJM Msxsaj mow zmsv wjcx spsm ZMSJK ZJMS; Charlie Ballek VALEDICTORIAN Nita Jordan S A LUT A TO RIA N Tod Windsor Kathleen Y ale EXPERIMENT IN INTERNATIONAL LIVING SCHOLARSHIPS A wards Kereived by Students at tlte S. To Pam Junker-all of my junk and all the guys she can handle. To Mr. Murphy 5234 lbs. of hard dried clay and a Tbsp. of Water. Good Luck! To Mrs. Skarr-a wig (any color) to remove it's hair instead of her own because of the stupid freshmen. To This building one can of paint, a bottle of wax, supports for the ceiling, and a heater. Last, but not least, to the rest of the poor people left in this school, a big HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! I Cynthia Mae Cline will to Mike McCaoy my stripes, long hours of practice, and all of the pride of being a part of ROTC Drill Team. To my Brother Dean, for the car you have already inherited, I leave a can of air freshner and a tip: It should be drank, not spilled! And to my younger brother, Dan, work hard and you won't be a dumb freshman for long.
