Student Senate Acts The 1971-72 Student Senate met under the leadership of President Peter Clark. The first semester officers helping the president were: Vice-President Bill Fall, Secretary-Treasurer Patti Car-roll, Parliamentarian Bennie Harris, and Publicity Committee Chairman Debbie Sare. During second semester they included Vice-President Richard Ur-batchka, Secretary-Treasurer Patti Carroll, Parliamentarian Michelle Catterall, and Publicity Chairman Teena Rawlings. The Senate’s agenda varied from trying to find a home for a bear to lively discussions about teacher evaluations and dress codes. Senate also cooperated with Council on several projects. Sometimes the Senate’s ideas were wild and impractical, or few and far between. The Senate, however, acts many times as a student “blow-off” valve, allowing students the chance to say what they didn’t like about school or what they would like to see new and better. At times, Senate’s objectives became vague, but never obscure. Even with small accomplishments, Senate still played an educational role byteachingstudents how to w o r k and act through the democratic process.
