Maxine Torbert—French I, Latin II; B.A., Yankton College. A new subject made its debut on the foreign language scene this year. French I, taught by Mrs. Torbert, a former teacher at Tongue River High, was offered to the SHS students. In addition, she also taught the remainder of Latin II. Spanish I and II, taught by Miss Lee, stresses grammar and Spanish conversation. German I, II, III, and IV, instructed by Mrs. Farrens, emphasizes translation, conversation, writing, and the customs. All three of the languages participated in the language festival which was held in early March in Casper, Wyoming. 23
