Many New Innovations Seen In District No. 7 Under the direction of Dr. Deane Riggs, many new innovations are seen in District No. 7. Dr. Riggs, Superintendent of Sheridan Public Sc.iools for the past two years, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. Mr. E. R. Shovlain holds the position of Assistant Superintendent of Business for District No. 7. Some of his duties include the custodial and maintenance of the schools, food services, transportation and the school budget. The School Board of District No. 7 include Mr. Marion Ladd, Chairman; Mr. John J. Dregoiw, Treasurer; Mr. George Gligoria, Clerk; Mr. William Carroll; Dr. George E. Ewan; and Mr. John A. Burgess. SHS Adds New Assistant Principal Mr. Charles Popovich, Assistant Principal, received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Montana State University. After serving three years in the U.S. Navy, he came to Sheridan in 1950 and began teaching at Sheridan High School. Besides his Assistant Principal duties Mr. Popovich teaches an Algebra II class and is the Honor Society sponsor. Mr. Richard Hall received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Black Hills State College and his Masters Degree from the University of Wyoming. He has been the Principal of Taylor Elementary School for the past twenty years. As a new Assistant Principal at SHS, Mr. Hall's duties include such things as Activities Director, maintaining the master activities calendar, supervision of the school plant, and room utilization and scheduling. 15

Counselors Administer Tests The counselor's main role is helping students find their place in high school life. During Post High School Planning Day, the college bound student had the opportunity to meet with college representatives from various institutions and discuss the policies and requirements of each school. Another important duty performed by the counselors is that of preparing seniors for college registration. College entrance exams were administered as well as grade transcripts sent to the college of the students' choice. All in all, it was a busy year for such an important part of the faculty.
