Another important duty performed by the counselors is that of preparing seniors for college registration. College entrance exams were administered as well as grade transcripts sent to the college of the students' choice. All in all, it was a busy year for such an important part of the faculty. Thursday was the traditional Mad Plaid day. The school was filled with wild plaids and stripes with both the students and the teachers participating in the gala event. Students loyally cut classes that day to gather outhouses, boxes, and even a bathtub. That evening was the turnabout hamburger fry followed by the largest bonfire in S.H.S. history. Friday saw the crowning of homecoming queen and her court. Sheridan won their homecoming game with the Lander Tigers 48 to 6. The game was followed by the beautiful homecoming dance in the Sheridan High Gym. TOP: Homecoming Queen, Charlotte Bolinger and her court, lead the Homecoming Parade. Actors Sheridan play-goers were twice entertained this year by the high school actors. The season opened on November 22 with the presentation of The Lady's Not For Burning. The plot centered around a 15th Century witchhunt in England. A young girl played by Dorothy Adsit was accused of turning a man into a dog. A young soldier, Jim Kearns, turns himself over to the police, saying he killed the man. The' reappearance of the man in question provided a delightful and entertaining comedy. Actors included: John Nelson, Shirley Adsit, Duff Exon, Ed Niehay, Geof Pohl, Mike Demchok, Bryan McHenry and John Niehay. Miss Lee directed the play with Assistant Director and Stage Manager Anna Shassetz. The second play of the season, Amahl and the Night Visitors was presented on December 21. The play was entirely presented by the students. The stage production was directed by Ed Niehay, Ron Bourke and Rob Wilson. The part of the mother was played by Serine Presfeldt, Amahl by Gail Ryan; Ron Bourke, Dave Freeman and Rob Wilson were the kings, and Terry Thurber was the page. The chorus consisted of 14 shepherds. TO?: Duff Exon takes time out to cheer up a saddened chaplain, Mike Demchok. ABOVE: Rob Wilson finds it difficult to get his king's make up off. Bill Cheesebourgh, an eighteen year auto racing veteran, spoke to the students late in September, on the subject Highway Safety Is No Accident. His program was high-lighted by a movie made at Indianapolis. Jim Carter gave one of the most meaningful programs the students had the opportunity of hearing. He talked about the problems facing drug users. The assembly was open to discussion and the students participated openly. Late in the school year. Miss Indian American, Thomisine Ruth Hill, provided students with an insight into her activities. After five days of rigid competition, Pam was again crowned, but this time as the Wyoming Junior Miss. On April 23, the SHS Seniors said their farewells to Pam as she left for Washington, D.C., where she spent two days before journeying on to Mobile, Alabama and America's Junior Miss Pageant. The story is of the conflicts between the King and his so-called barbaric world and Anna and her civilized world. The musical was in part a love story, and had many underlying plots. Juniors Cut 11,000 Square Feet Of Ceiling 50 The Juniors, led by co-heads Pat Blansett and Tanna Tucker dedicated many hard hours of work to achieve the annual Jr.-Sr. Prom. Work involved the folding, cutting and hanging of over sixty-five 100-foot rolls of crepe paper. The paper was hung in waves, giving the gym an underwater effect. Several pillars decorated with hanging moss, and many Greek-like statues were displayed throughout the gym. An irri-descent-chalked mural was drawn by Shannon Grant, Suzanne McKee, Paula Bennett, and Donna Brayton, supervised by seniors Toby Birr and Jim Jackson. The Junior boys built and covered two Grecian arches. A fountain was centered in the gym and was colored by two revolving color wheels. A before prom banquet was held at the Kalif Shrine Temple. The Brass Banditos entertained. The traditional after-prom activities were set aside in favor of a Casino-nite, which included an after-prom dance, with music furnished by a local band. The breakfast was held in the Elks Club. For the season the Broncs averaged 28 points and 285 yards per game to 9.3 points and 120 yards for their rivals. Sheridan finished the season ranking third in the conference and seventh in the State. Ken Madia was named the outstanding back and Dick Doyle the outstanding lineman. Birr, Boyd, Doyle, D. Doyle, Bosley, Lindstrom, Scherry If the 1968 football season could be expressed in one word, that word would be defense. Because of this defense the Sheridan Broncs went undefeated in their first seven starts, including three consecutive shutouts. Giving Cody a score early in the opener, Sheridan came back to overpower Cody by five touchdowns, racking up 400 total yards to Cody’s 84. The Broncs accounted for their second win when they out-played one of the top Montana teams, Billings Senior. Ken Madia scored all three Sheridan touchdowns during the contest. The Broncs avenged last year's loss to Kelly Walsh by crushing them 34-6. In the next three games, the Broncs pinned shutouts on Powell, Tbermopolis, and Casper Natrona.
