The National requirements are as follows: a candidate must be in the upper third of his class in scholastic standing: must be a junior or senior at the time of electiong must have done superior work in writing. editing or business management. Members from Ovksheperida staff must have written one-hundred inches for the paper. Members elevted from Brom' staff must have been members of the staff for two years. 0605564005-f6Z667t ' . The OCK staff edits twelve papers each school year. ln these editions, all school activ- ities, special events, and advertisements from downtown contributors are covered. Interviews of teachers and students are as- signed to members of this staff. Also each person is required to write a feature article every week in addition to regular assignments. Staffers who have had one hundred inches of copy in print are eligible for membership in the honorary journalism organization, Quill and Scroll. All members of the staff strive to earn this honor. Sandy Harper-Exchange editor, Carolyn Bell and Jane Lodge-Manag ing editors, and Cynthia Barnhart and Connie Cosby-Business mana- gers, work ou Nancy Belus, Barbara Baker, Viva Baker, Barb Hunnell, and Judy Bambolis study old papers for ideas for their particular assignments. Each year members of the staff journey to Laramie for Journalism week-end. At this meeting delegates attend sessions keyed to pub- lishing a newspaper. Rewards for outstanding news coverage, cartoons, overall appeal, and various other things are presented at this time. This trip is looked for with much anticipation by all the staffers. X F John O'Dell, t unique ideas for the school paper. The Ocksheperirla, as the paper is named, means Camp Crier. lt comes out at opportune times throughout the school year. The April issue contains April Fool stories and various humorous articles. Al- so, Homecoming, Prom, and Christmas concerts and operettas are given special places in the newspaper. The members of this group have fun putting the paper out to please the students of our high school and have many experiences while learning some- thing useful. Dave Madia, Winky Sargent, Dershie B.
