Wyoming ! t 1 Wyoming was organized as a territory in 1868. It was admitted to the Union as a state in 1890. The State Flower, the Indian Paint Brush, was adopted on January 31, 1917. The State Flag was adopted on January 31, 1917. It was designed by Miss Verna Keays. The great seal of the state of Wyoming is in the heart of the flag, upon a figure of a bison, which is bordered in red, white and blue. The first Governor of the State of Wyoming was Francis E. Warren. The first H. Farwell. Superintendent of Public Instruction was Stephen The present Governor of Wyoming is Leslie Miller. The present Superintendent of Public Instruction is Jack R. Gage. V THE FORTY-FOURTH STAR What is it I see in the night’s early gloaming, Shining afar from the glorious West? ’Tis the star forty-four, the star of Wyoming, That shines on her people, so happy and blest. Yes, happy and blest are the people tonight, With a future before them both dazzling and bright, And the people all shout, with no doubt of her fate, Hurrah for Wyoming!
