JOURNALISM CLASS: BACK ROW - Mr. Reinke. Stan Gallagher. Ron William. FRONT ROW - Judy Covalt, Brenda Pfeifer. Janet Rumback, Janice Campbell. PUBLICATIONS STAFF RECORDS SCHOOL LIFE Seven students took journalism under Mr. Reinke at Hoxie High School this year. Janet Rumback. a senior, served as editor of the Sheridonian and Ron William, a junior, edited the Tom Tom Tribune, the school section of the Hoxie Sentinel. In addition to journalism, Mr. Reinke also taught four sections of English I. In this course the studies centered around vocabulary work, English and American literature, and short themes. The class also made use of Read Maga- zine and wrote short stories as part of a contest sponsored by the publication. AUDREY KARLS Fort Hays State College B.A. 1961, M.A. 1964 BENNY ROSELL Phillips University B.S. 1956 Qrcat Plains Auto Supply BETTER EXPRESSION THROUGH ENGLISH AND SPEECH Miss Karls taught one section of English IV and four sections of English II at Hoxie High this year. These upper level English courses concen- trate much of their time on composition and the literature of particular countries or periods. Mr. Rosells's teaching responsibilities in- cluded Speech I, English III, and for the first time this year a course called debate and creative writing for advanced students interested in better preparing themselves for the debate competition. BARBARA DEAN Kansas State University B.S. 1955 HOME ECONOMICS CLASSES PREPARE FOR HOUSEHOLD DUTIES In addition to teaching five sections of home economics at three different levels, Mrs. Deane served as advisor to the Future Homemakers of America chapter here at Hoxie. Most of the girls who took home economics also participated in FHA. A highlight of the year was the annual FHA-Kayette tea at which many of the girls dis- played some of their own projects from class.
