DRIVER TRAINING Learning the parts of the engine is an integral part of driver training. Here Mr. Urban explains the cooling system to Mickey Cupples and Lynn Younkin. PHYSICAL EDUCATION One outgrowth of the school’s physical education program for girls was the Indianettes, a group of junior girl gymnasts who performed at halftime of several home basketball games. They are left to right: Sandy Cooper, Carol Ostmeyer, Ruth Krannawitter, Alberta Popp, Jane Andregg, Marci Vickers, Janet James, Karin Neal, Pam Carder, Vivian Hill, and Sandy Davis. Mr. Urban taught three sections of driver education in addition to boys physical education classes. He also served the school as head foot- ball and track coach. Miss Kennedy conducted classes in girls physical education at both the high school and the Hoxie Grade School. She was also co-sponsor of the Pep Club along with Miss Steffens. SOME STUDENTS WILL TAKE THEIR PLACE IN INDUSTRY AND AGRICULTURE Mr. Lambert, vocational agriculture instruc- tor, taught courses at all four levels. The vo ag course for sophomores covered two hours in the afternoon. In addition to classroom study of farm plants and animals the curriculum included shop work valuable to the future farmer. Mr. Smith taught Mechanical Drawing I and II and Woodworking I and II. The wood- working students selected their own projects, purchased the lumber, and were for the most part responsible for completing them as well as pos- sible. At tlie end of the school year Bob Schwarzen- berger was honored for his excellent work in wood- working.
