VICTOR OELKE Concordia Teachers College B.S. 1957 BILL PICKINPAUGH Fort Hays State College B.S. 1960 Mr. Oelke taught three sections of American Government, one section of world geography, served as athletic director, and coached the wrestling team during this school year. During the second semester, we learned that Mr. Oelke would be leaving our faculty to teach at Colby Community Junior College in the social sciences and to coach the wrestling team there. Mr. Pickinpaugh's teaching load included three sections of American History, one world history, and one driver's education. All seniors are required to take American History before graduation. In addition to his classroom teach- ing responsibilities, Mr. Pickinpaugh assisted with the football and wrestling programs at Hoxie High. Jieim Radio and Z V. DRIVER TRAINING Learning the parts of the engine is an integral part of driver training. Here Mr. Urban explains the cooling system to Mickey Cupples and Lynn Younkin. PHYSICAL EDUCATION One outgrowth of the school’s physical education program for girls was the Indianettes, a group of junior girl gymnasts who performed at halftime of several home basketball games. They are left to right: Sandy Cooper, Carol Ostmeyer, Ruth Krannawitter, Alberta Popp, Jane Andregg, Marci Vickers, Janet James, Karin Neal, Pam Carder, Vivian Hill, and Sandy Davis. Mr. Urban taught three sections of driver education in addition to boys physical education classes. He also served the school as head foot- ball and track coach. Miss Kennedy conducted classes in girls physical education at both the high school and the Hoxie Grade School. She was also co-sponsor of the Pep Club along with Miss Steffens.
