LIBRARIAN AND COUNSELOR WORK TOGETHER TO HELP THE STUDENTS Mr. Thomas was the new librarian at the high school this year. He came in at the beginning of the second semes- ter. The duties of the girls who worked in the library this year were to work at the charging desk, put up papers and new magazines, and to help the other students to check out their books from the library. Mrs. Rose, guidance counselor for the high school, also teaches psychology and sociology. The class studies human emotions and why some people are so much more emotional than others. This year the class made a tour of the Lar- nard State Hospital as a part of their study this year. Mr. O’Brien shows his students how to work an algebra problem, by working it on the board. MATH HAS EVERYDAY VALUES The math classes this year were taught by Mr. O’Brien, Mr. Hensley, Mr. Griffin, and Mrs. Ochs. Mr. O'Brien taught all the algebra classes this year. The Algebra il students start out with a review of Algebra I and go on to the more advanced problems of alge- bra. Mrs. Ochs teaches geometry, consisting of the study of angles, and other points and surfaces. They find the area of angles, the depth, the width, and a study of construction of angles. Mrs. Ochs also helps in the read- ing class. The other classes of math are taught by Mr. Hensley, basic math; and Mr. Griffin, senior math. Here Mr. Magnuson is busy giving Brenda Pfeifer a horn lesson. MUSIC ENRICHES THE LIVES OF STUDENTS This year the music department was staffed by Mr. Magnuson and Mr. McDonnel. Mr. Magnuson taught band and gave music lessons. He also organized a group of skilled musicians, called the Red Barons who played for several occa- sions. Mr. McDonnel taught girls glee, boys glee, and mixed chorus along with giving private vocal lessons to the stu- dents who wanted them. The music department gave two concerts this year. A winter and spring concert. They also went to the music contest in Oakley. To end the year the mixed chorus sang for graduation. Mr. McDonnel is giving a voice lesson to Lenny Patmon during his study hall period.
