INDUSTRIAL ARTS Industrial Arts consists of Me- chanical Drawing I and II and Wood- working I and II. The Mechanical Drawing I class start out the year by learning let- tering, they study orthographic projection, do dimensioning, work on sections, and drawings. Each student is required to turn in 56 plates before the year is finished. The second year Mechanical Drawing class review what has been learned during their first year class. They start working with auxilary views and revolutions, and do sheet metal drafting. During the second semester, the class start on archi- tectural drafting. Each student chooses and designs his own home. In doing this, the student learns and uses: floor plans, roof plans, plot plans, wall sections, front, rear, right, and left elevations, kitchen build-ins, specification sheets, wiring plans, and door and paint schedules. This year's class took field trips to see homes in construction. The students in Woodworking I were required to do a project using all hand tools. Later, each student learns to use machines. Coffee tables, gun racks, lamps, and end tables are some of the most com- mon pieces made. The second year Woodworking class learn safety on machines. Each student keeps a notebook of different operations, and con- structs more difficult projects. They study finishing and work on a lathe. A China closet and book- case headboard were two of the more difficult items made this year.
