SY NOPSl S RYOUTS for the Class of 55 s long runnrng play was September 4 1942 ACT I Debut Krndergarten The actlon takes place rn the krndergarten room Mrss Murray IS the drrector and the hrgh lrght of the scene rs our lrttle rhythm band In addrtron to makrng norse we also made frlends and became acquamted wrth school llfe ACT II Scenes 1 2 3 4 Grade School Durlng these scenes the foundatlon for our future years as actors and actresses ln school llfe began Part of the class appeared rn a short entr acte concemmg the poems of Longfellow who was portrayed by Dean Record An other blg attractron was the appearance of our chorus l1ne a quartet of little tap dancers who represented our class throughout the act ACT II fcont J Scenes 5 6 Same settmg We contmued this act by becommg rnterested m band and chorus whrch helped develop our musrcal talents Through our chorus work we partrcrpated rn the operetta Hansel and Gretel whrch was notable for the starrmg ap pearance of our classmate John Blarr as Hansel Other members of our repertory company contrrbuted to the chorus Thrs act drew to a close on rnovrng up day wrth a ceremony rn whlch we recelved our dlplomas Now aftera summer s rntermrssron we were ready to assume our roles as the prmcrple players rn jumor and Senior Hrgh School ACT III Scenes 7 8 jumor Hrgh School W1th the addrtron of our classmates from the Smyrna theater our cast of players under the dlrectron of Mlss Webb and Mr Roberts now numbered srxty As a class we traveled to Syracuse and to vxsrt the New York State Farr The hlghlrght of thxs act was the rnauguratron of the junror Hlstorlcal SOCIETY WhlCh sponsored a speech con test on Democracy and VlS1I6d the museums at Cooperstown Dur1ng th1s act our company presented a gala productron of the play Llttle Women starrrng Lmda Benson Nancy Dennis joan Elllott Sharron Fobes Cel1nda Hartman john Blarr james Faulkner Dale Slmmons and Howard Vahue It was acclarmed one of the greatest entertarnments ever presented by us rn the SCS theater Thrs act also found us penetratlng the world of Journalrsm wlth our newspaper Odds and End ACT IV Scenes9 10 11 12 Sen1orH1gh School As Freshmen we were bewrldered by the excrtement of our new role For the frrst trme we actually had lead roles and elected Sharron Fobes Rlchard Merrrll and Ralph Seeber to represent us Mrss Sartwell Mrss Knapp and Mr McCarty were our technrcal advrsors We became mterested rn rntramurals sports cheerleadrng and fur ther strengthened our lnterest rn band and chorus Th1s scene wrtnessed the lntroductron of our never to be for gotten Club 55 dance The scene of our Sophomore year found us once agam led by Sharron Fobes Rlchard Merrlll Ralph Seeber and thrs year the burden of Secretary treasurer was dxvrded between Ralph and Ted Aldrrch MISS Brothers and Mrss Starratt advised us Success accompanled our SCIICS of camrvals 1n1t1ated thrs year as well as the trad1t1onalSoph omore Class Sadxe Hawkrns Dance We also set a new record when nrne of our company of actors were elected to the Natlonal Honor Socrety As junrors we elected Nancy Denms Rrchard M rrrll Shrrley Rxchardson and Ralph Seeber to lead us Mrss Brothers and Mrss Starratt for the second time advrsed us In th1s year we resumed our journalrstrc pursurts by publrshlng The SCS Spotllght Our brggest undertakrng was the annual junror Prom whrch everyone proclarmeda success As Senlors we had arrrved Now we were the prmcrple players Mrss Brothers once agarn assumed the advrsor s chalr Wrth our fmal performance rn june rn slght we worked hard to put forth the yearbook our chxef project Now that we have achreved our educatronal foundatxon and gamed experxence rn llvrng we look back on pleasant years and forward to the future 24 , . . , . , . . p ' 7 1 !
