CQHIS year the Opera Club was happy to present Erminie, an opera de- picting life in a French village during the eighteenth century. It featured rather difficult character parts which meant end- less hours of practice and dialogue and gestures for the principals. Besides learn ing many songs and dance steps, the girls of the chorus made some of their own cos- tumes to add a touch of originality to the setting. Indeed, the Opera Club, thanks to the endless patience of their director Mrs. Hartman, worked hard this year to put on a fine performance and deserves much credit. Through the patience and understanding of Mrs. Hartman, the Grade Cho- rus tries to attain this ability. Although harmony singing is new to these elementary pupils, they eventually learn to read two and three-part music. The Grade Chorus has of late become such a part of the Spring Choral Concert that something would be definitely lacking without it. S. Fagan, N. Miller, M. Dalton, A. Tumer, S. Richardson, C. NTP OCTETTE Q HE Girls' Octette is composed of eight high school girls who love to sing and are willing to practice diligently one hour each week. Their specialty is the singing of Barber Shop numbers adapted for girls' voices. Besides par- ticipating inthe Norwich Festival and our own Spring Choral Concert, they have enlivened the meetings of many local organizations with their singing. This year the Rotary Club and the new Norwich Radio Station have already asked for their services.
