NEWCOMERS AND COCA-COLA . A CLASSIC COMBINATIDN 4 These newcomers warm up with a Coke. February 12 was designated Warm Up to Newcomers Day at Shepton. Students and teachers wore their warmest warm- up suits to welcome all 250 of the students new to Plano this year. Each new student wore a name tag that identified him and his most recent place of origin. At each grade level a student won a sweatshirt with two transfers of his choice, for introducing himself to the mystery new student at the mystery time. Mystery new students were: john Rosman-7th grader from New jersey, Alex Krechting-8th grader from Cleburne, Marilee Washburn-9th grader from Colorado, and Matt Tjelmeland-10th grader from Austin. Those who warmed up to these new students at the mystery time were: Ryan Thomas Q7thJ, Lori Freeman C8thl, Traci Seibert i9thl, and Kim Priest i10thJ. During the last period of the day, the newcomers were re- leased from class several minutes early for fellowship and re- freshments, with refreshments being donated by the girls' FCA, the PTO board, and the National Honor Society. T6 4 Amy Nearing and Lisa West decide to be original with a Diet Coke and a smile. , 4 Newcomers drink, swallow, and burp!
