Un- der the direction of Mr. Burks, the students prac- tice daily on scales, sight reading, and performance music. The band is com- posed of a mere 29 stu- dents, but as Mr. Burks would tell you, lt's not the size that matters, it's the sound. People make jokes about its size, but once they hear the band, their mouths fall open as they listen to the fabulous sound. Although the band was unable to attend marching contests, be- cause of its size, they at- tended football games and marched at half time. The students worked to- gether and made it a re- markable year. a,ZQ 4 Todd Stewart looks on as the band plays musical 0 leflnie Parker thinks tfor ii Chaflgell chairs. Orchestra consists of many talented students displaying their musical abilities. The Shepton Sil- ver Strings incorporate many fine string players who have been working to raise money for their trip to Scarborough Fair. They performed with gor- geous sounds, thus rating well at all contests they at- tended. The orchestra consists of five cellos, one bass, one viola, nine vio- lins, and one piano. Very unique director, says Shannon Klotz, He's the only director l've ever had that conducted with a chopstick. However, that does not stop them from being number one! Many long hours were spent in order to meet the ever so demanding deadlines. We spent much time and effort to make each page come alive. We hope we did! At first this job seemed like a very easy task. But, producing a book isn't easy at all. We couldn't have been so successful without the help of all nineteen staff members. After the first few weeks of working together, we became very close to one another. It's so neat to see a group of strangers come together and through the passing weeks be able to know exactly what the other person is thinking. Every- thing went pretty smoothly with this year's publica- tion except for a few bad moments ..... WE DID IT! Q Pictured from bottom left: Steve Koldjeski, Meghan Pruitt, Cheril Santini, P.I.
