Daring rescue attempts were made in the sub-zero temperatures by municipal, parks and emergency squads. Five passengers were pulled from the icy waters before they succumbed to the cold. Columbia. . . . . .Space Shuttle Columbia, the world's first reusable spacecraft, lifted off from Cape Canaverla, Fla., on its third and longest journey March 23, 1982.
