HCDMECOMING1979 HURRAY FOR HOLLYWOGD All the world was a stage as Shepherd College students, staff and alumni celebrated a Hurray for Hollywood Homecoming '79. The year's big event, staged October 12-13, featured many star-studded activities highlighting the Hollywood theme. First on the Homecoming playbill was a rigorous Road Rally with a route that made riding shotgun almost a reality for some ralliers. Rooting on a different kind made the Blue and Ciold Assembly a standing-room-only event. Held in the amphitheater on Friday evening, the assembly provided a golden opportunity for groups to outshine land shoutl opposing groups of Rams fans for prizes. Hollywood had little over Shepherd- stown Friday night, as SC hosted its own Talent ShowfNight Club Night in the Ram's Den. Command performances were turned in by musicians Randy Collins and Crabgrass, singer Tony Palumbo and guitarist Bob Bosley, pianist Dave Weaver and comedian Stu Smith. Dance contests and star look- a-like contests jazzed up the night club atmosphere. Movie Madness could have been the theme for Saturday's big Homecoming Parade, as various campus organizations acted out scenes from favorite movies while parading through Shepherd- stown. The Keystone Kops, Rocky, The Beverly Hillbillies, Grease, and Cleopatra on the Nile were all represented in technicolor, as were the Marching Rams and several other bands and groups. But the Hollywood Homecoming was not to be without drama. Saturday's big football game with West Virginia Wesleyan provided that. With four seconds left in the game, the Rams led the Bobcats 20-17. The never-say-die 'Cats decided to give the goal one more go. . .and almost got it! saved by Ram Everett Yore with a tackle that stopped the Bobcat runner on the half-yard line. What a weekend! What a win! The Rams weren't the only winners that Saturday afternoon, for a halftime the Homecoming crowd had an audience with a queen. Durinda Sue Decker received the royal title and was crowned by SC President james Butcher. Kim Baker, Sue Lechner, and Nancy Thom completed the trio of Senior representatives. The lunior class was represented by jackie Briggs, Melissa Tayman represented the Sophomore class, and Amy McNally was the Freshman court attendant. The Formal Homecoming Ball, held in the Ram's Den that evening, completed the lively events of the weekend. Long Time Coming provided the sounds, while Shepherd students provided the sights that made this Homecoming a hit for everyone. - 2 . 'or Zu.- wif?
