V' 22 Pageant The Seventh Annual Miss Shepherd College Pageant was packed with excitement as was the gym- nasium. lt was quite evident that Theta Xi had put all they had into the Pageant once again. Over six hun- dred people came to see who of the twenty-eight contestants would be crowned Miss Shepherd College 1979. The Pageant was also packed with entertainment as the local Jefferson Pop Singers brought out the spirit in everyone with their songs and dancing. The Shepherd College Jazz Ensemble provided the background music throughout the evening as the girls competed in swimsuits and evening gowns for the judges. The judging involved two separate days: the girls were judged on Poise and Personality on Saturday, March 31, and on the night of April 2, they were judged in Swimsuits and Evening Gowns to narrow the field down. The top five contestants repeated the two categories again in order for the judges to make the final decision: who would be the new Miss Shepherd College. The final question was: lf you had to choose a true friend, what qualities would you look for and why? The results were tabulated and were as follows: Jan Middlekauff, Miss Shepherd Collegeg Peggy Ebner, first runner-upg Lisa Sprouse, second runner-upg and, Myrtle Twyman and Robin Brekhus, finalists.
