Through conferences for high school journalists, future teachers, dram atists, musicians, and athletes, Shepherd College encourages the devel opment of its resources in people for the future. Located on the campus is the Area Research and Development Center, using the facilities of the College and affording selected Shep- herd College students experience in research work, which constitutes a part of college course work and contributes to the Center's basic socio-economic study of the region. Stressing goals in recreation, industrial de- velopment, transportation, education, and planning, the Center continues its promotion of the economic and cultural welfare of the Eastern Panhandle counties.
