X , TI-IE PRESIDENTS Since 1871 the Story of Shepherd College has been a story of service to youth. Shepherd has truly had a glorious past and we can be justly proud as we celebrate her Eightieth Birthday this year. The 1951-52 academic year marks an im- portant milestone in the history of the college. The dream of a Greater Shepherd College is rapidly becoming a reality. At our Home- coming Celebration we laid the cornerstone for our new one-hall million dollar physical education building that will be ready for use by the summer session. Our great need for a new men's dormitory has been realized and our recent groundbreaking ceremony marked -:V :mm OLIVER S. IKENBERRY ' A.B. McPherson College: M.A. Colo- rado State Colleqe of Education: Ed.D. Colorado State College of Education. MESSAGE the beginning of a new 3400000.00 modern dormitory to be ready for occupancy about February 1, 1953. National academic recognition and prestige has been achieved with the recent accredita- tion of the college by the North Central As- sociation of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the admission of the college to the Ameri- can Association of Colleges. The future of Shepherd College is bright and will be realized because of the sincere effort and devotion of faithful faculty members, successful students, loyal alumni and fine friends. Together we can face the future with confidence. CAREY V. STABLER Academic Dean and Registrar B.S. University of Alabarnap M.A. University of Alabama: Ph.D, Duke University, ABEL F.
