611155 History As we, the Class of 1970, gradually approach our goal, we begin to look back into the past and to remember our first year at Shepard High, We remember the ex- citement, splendor, and happiness that accompanied those past years, As Freshmen, we anticipated a new way of school life. We made ourselves ac- customed to new ideas and customs. With determination we pushed forward with the help of our advisors, Mrs, McCoy, Mrs, Williamson, and Mr, Teel. The presidents who represented the three sections of our class were Nellie High, Donald Morgan, and Linda Robertson. When we retumed as Sophomores, we thought that we were as wise as the owls, But, oh how wrong we were! We soon leamed that there was much more to be ac- complished before we could reach our destiny. Many of us participated in the various activities. One of our class members, Delores O'Neal, won the title of Miss Senior High. Some had the honor and pleasure of serving as waiters and waitresses for the Junior-Senior Prom. They were Teresa Horton, Patricia Perry, Deborah Ferrell, Brenda Lucas, Christine Richardson, Samuel Jones, Vernon Bullock, Dwight Walton, Ronald Morgan, and Larry Whitley. Our advisors were Mrs, McCoy, Mrs. Williamson, and Mr, Yates. Our class presidents were Nellie High and Donald Morgan. We then looked forward to our junior year. This year brought along with it all the splendor and excitement that we had ex- pected, Most of us had the experience of entering the Crown and Scepter Club, How- ever, the most memorable experience of all was the Junior-Senior Prom which had as its theme, A Shower of Stars. Our class advisors were Mrs, McCoy, Mrs. Williamson, and Mr. Yates. The class officers were: President - Donald Morgan Vice-President - Deborah Ferrell Secretary - Wanda Vick Assistant Sec. - Vivian Bullock Finally we have reached our long awaited goal. Seniors at last! We are striving to make our last year a very successful one, Our projects include plans for our future life which lies ahead of us. Nevertheless, our biggest project was the publication of our yearbook, It was our aim and greanest desire to produce a very interesting and memorable one. The following students were responsible for the Senior Class receiving much honor and distinction: Gwendolyn Carpenter - Miss Shepard High Donald Jones - Mr. Shepard High Dorothy Gillis - Miss Homecoming Our class advisors are Miss I . M. Harris and Mr, Handy Yates, Jr. The class officers are: Larry Mayo, President, Patricia Perry, Vice-President: Secretary, Wanda Vicky Assistant Secretary, Judy Porter: Parliamentarians, Walter Rogers and David Norwoodg and Reporters, Shirley Mitchell and Dorothy Gillis. We feel that Shepard has really done its duty in preparing us for the future. We only hope that we do not fail this noble institution. As we leave the halls of Shepard High and advance towards the rim of the future, memories will still echo through our hearts and minds forever. Patricia Perry , Historian
