Leautiful people, helping individuals in quiet, behind the scene ways. fo them goes our appreciation, and our respect. Mr. DelNegro Mr. Victor DelNegro serves in his official capacities as Shenendehowa's drama teacher, speech therapist, and advisor of the Drama Club. However, members of our student body know him as much more than that. This man has shown himself to be a true friend-always finding time to talk to students and lend a helping hand. He is there to give sound advice, yet at the same time is able to help students assume responsibilities on their own. More im- portantly, he makes them realize that these responsibilities go hand in hand with priv- ileges, a fact of which many need to be reminded. Of all the types of beautiful people, Mr. DelNegro is a do-er, always doing some- thing for the school. He is well known for his drama productions, helping with dances, building the junior-Senior Snack Bar, and fighting for our Senior privileges. Characteristics that make Mr. DelNegro the person that he is are his great sense of humor, his willingness to try new ideas, and his active imagination. His most out- standing quality, however, is his willingness to give of himself completely, and that is truly the best gift of all.

This year we have chosen two special people to whom we would like to dedicate our yearbook. Both exemplify our idea of Miss Simmons Miss Margaret A. Simmons was the first English teacher hired by Shenendehowa. Since that time, seventeen years ago, she has helped countless students in many capacities. She has served as the high school's reading teacher, as a specialist for those students recom' mended to her by teachers and parents for special assistance in reading and learning, and as consultant to teachers. In addition to this, Miss Simmons has proven herself invaluable in helping Seniors to prepare and organize their graduation cere- monies each year. Her role in our own school's A.F.S. program is very important, and she is presently serving as chairman of the Am- ericans Abroad Committee for the American Field Service Interna- tional Scholarships Incorporated. In her own quiet way, Miss Simmons has been serving Shenen- dehowa since its origin. She has been working on an individual basis with students, helping them to overcome difficulties. All too often a person such as this goes unrecognized by a world too hurried to see more than just the brightest stars in the sky. We have stopped to take a closer look, and that is why we have chosen Miss Margaret A. Simmons as one of our special, beautiful people.
