The Friends JEQ1 B. Feeeefmem The Friends of Ely B. Freedman is a club organized to play and sing folk music and to trade songs and ideas. During the year they performed some concerts ranging from traditional to contemporary folk music, also including some original material. The Math Con- test is sponsored by the Mathe- matical Associa- tion of America. A difficult test, tying together all the skills learned in high school mathematics, is taken by students all across the United States. The students par- ticipating from Shenendehowa have, in the past several years, ranked about 22nd among the 3 O 0 competing schools in New York State. This is done through projects not able to be done during class time, such as organizing the Latin Banquet and preparing classical programs for elementary and Junior High School students. They have had bake sales in order to raise money for the sampling of French culture in the form of food and art. After each meeting a club newsletter, L,Escargot CThe Snailj, is circulated throughout the French classes. Mrs. Rabovsky is the faculty advisor, with Miss Cardamone and Mrs. Bonadies helping. The National Honor Society is a group of Juniors and Seniors selected for outstand- ing character, scholarship, leadership, and service in the school and community. Being a service organization, the group has ini- tiated several worthwhile programs in our school, including a tutoring service and a new student orientation program. The N.H.S. members provide ushers and guides for public functions at the school, take care of the bulletin board in the main lobby, and give several scholarships at graduation. Mr. Patil Desjardins and Mrs. Gertrude Durand serve as advisors.
