Stzzdenzii The language is a very limited field, and the words are incapable to express my real Rafika Blili Love, Sophistication, Beauty, Unity, Acquain- tance and a great educational faculty. That is what the school is based on. And that is how I feel about the great SHENENDEHOWA. It is a great kingdom of Teenagers, with all the things they need. It has well qualified teach- ers and administration. The all great thing in my opinion about the school is not the great number of students, but the way it handles them. As for the students they are very hospitable and lovable people. Their high attitude to- ward sports is bringing them success in foot- ball, etc. The plainsmen are really striking. Their high efforts to make you happy and at home is really remarkable. I really enjoyed the school and the students. Sometimes I wish I had taken all my school years there. They are great kids both in educational and sports streams. I wish they keep it up. As for the family I live with, they are just great, patient and responsible. My mother, Mrs. Chodos, has really been a real fantastic moth- er. I'll never forget her. My father has always been a great father and has helped me in a lot of things. I had also great times with my athletic brothers and beautiful sisters. feelings. However someone must live the ex- perience to understand it, because one has to feel and to pass through the same circum- stances his brother has passed to understand his feelings. Can you taste Love before you feel it and live it? It is the same thing for me. You can't understand my real emotions toward this year and I can't describe them as real as they are. Sometimes I feel very happy to be here in the United States and among friendly people who want to help me. And sometimes I feel very sad because the word thank you is only a sound which doesn't mean many things. But I am obliged to use it because I can't do anything else, I don't have another deep word other than it. So I say Thank you very much to all of my nice American Family, to all the people responsible for the A.F.S., to all my teachers and students in Shenendehowa High School. And I hope that you'll remember the girl who believes in the Solidarity and who comes in 1971-1972 from Tunisia to have her own experience, because she thinks that all men are brothers and must live together because nothing is stronger than Love, Peace and Solid- arity. Exchange Dear Friends, Now, my feeling is happiness because I am living together with these sincere and friendly people for one year, I'm sure that I'm having the most beautiful experience of my life and that's why I have to say: Thanks to the people of Shenendehowa and the Rotary Club of Shenendehowa that made possible for me this wonderful experience. I hope to be a good representative of my country, Brazil, Rotary, my school, and I hope I'll please you. It's pleasant to keep contact with other people, other customs, other Ways of life. I'm learning very much about you and the United States. When I go back to my country, I'll leave a little of my heart with you. I'm glad to have the opportunity to express my thanks for my great friends, my teachers, and the people of this country for this marvelous welcome. I am sincerely grateful. A Rotary Exchange Student, Fellow Plainsmen, Experiences like mine, living with people of Brazil, studying their language, their government, and more important, learning how they think and why are so helpful if we are ever to live in peace and understanding with the rest of the world. I don't want to forget the friends I have made here in Brazil. These are warm people who are as anxious as we to trade ideas. I find myself feeling very proud when I tell them about you and our school and country. When I met young Brazilians going to the United States as next year's Exchange Students, I assured them that my people will make them as welcome and as happy as I feel here. Make friends with them. They're nice and lots of fun. I would like to thank Shenendehowa Rotary for making this year of better understanding possible. See you all next August, Bob Waller I Amy Skarin Samia The experience of being an ex- change student was exciting and challenging. As an American Field Service Exchange Student to Fin- land I had a great opportunity to learn. One of the most important things I learned was that those characteristics of Finland that make Finland a distinct country with its own culture can be seen best by knowing its people. This is the major goal of A.F.S.-to al- low students around the world to Walk together, talk togetheru and to learn about each other, other ways of thinking, other cultures, and themselves. I lived in the southeast part of Finland with my Finnish family. They made me feel welcome and one of the family. I followed their life, their way of living, from wash- ing dishes, to dances, to saunas. This summer truly was an experi- ence to share with all. I wish to thank all who made last summer possible-the commu- nity for their support of this pro- gram, the A.F.S. committee for their time and effort, Miss Sim- mons for her help and understand- ing, and especially my Finnish fam- ily for being what they are.
