VARSITY 'ii BASKETBALL FIRST ROW: A. Gregoire, J. Turner, F. B. Hubbs. SECOND ROW: Mr. Mapes, P. Neilsen, D. Carlson, B. Hotaling, D. Meager, D. Allen, D. Thompson, T. Powers, L. Riberdy. The basketball season of 1955-1956 was an unprofitable one for S.C.S. How- ever, it did have its high points. Led by two high-scoring Seniors, Frank DeVoe and Dave Meager, the Plainsmen gave every team they met a good fight. Although no games were won, the Plainsmen improved considerably as the season progressed and finished with an inspired struggle against Milne, lagging only five points behind. VARSITY CHEERLEADERS Hurray! We finally made it--VARSITY --what else? Last May tryouts were held to select the cheerleaders for this year. Practices were held in the elementary gym. With muscles very stiff and spirits high, we trooped into the high school gym for our final practice. Seven girls were chosen by members of the faculty acting as judges. When the practice was over, spirits were very low. We had a whole night of suspense to look forward to. The following morning the following seven girls found their names posted: Janet Brewster, Carol Louprette, Dody Furlow, Shelda Werner, Carol Hayner, .Tanet Carey, and Sally Bessette. Needless to say, the most exciting game was our home game with Waterford High. The score was tiedg we had to play a three- minute overtime period. Waterford took the lead, and to our disappointment kept it through the last couple of minutes. Well, that's it for another yearg and none of us can say that we didn't enjoy it! 6 7 DeVoe, D. Burwash, G. Sweet, G. Peck,

All the boys are striv- ing to make this show not only valuable but entertaining as well. This page co-sponsored by: CORNELL L MARTIN'S TEXACO SERVICE STATION Tire, Batteries Accessories Phone Wtfcl. 'N IN FRONT: s. Hopper. IN BACK: P. X Laverdiere, I. Petuske. J. Bassler, L. McCune, J. Reynolds, M. Felthousen. Each spring all the girls that are interested in cheer- leading are eligible to tryout for a squad. The present seven Junior Varsity cheer leaders were very happy the day they saw their names posted after the final try- outs. Early in the fall we start- ed our two practices a week. At practice we discuss, orig- inate, and practice the cheers that we use. It takes team- work during practice to work out and perfect every new cheer. The Jr. Varsity cheered with the Varsity Cheerlead- ers during Soccer season. In the Basketball season we cheered for the .Tr. Varsity games. JR. VARSITY BASKETBALL KNEELING: R. Desnoyers, T. JR VARSITY CHEERLEADERS Even though this year's J. V. had a record of two victories and sixteen losses for the season, their many fine performances were worthy of a far better re- cord than would appear. The never-say-die spirit and the sportsmanship that was shown more than made up for the games that were lost. We think that the future J. V. teams will become better and more proficient with additional experience.
