Ig r VOLLEYBALL The girls' volleyball team, consisting of Junior and Senior girls, played five games every Tuesday, seventh period. Each team had a captain. The Junior captain was Maude Hatlee, and the Senior captain was Dorothy Christopher. There were no qualifications for participatin on the teamsg 8 the girls who like to play volley- ball and who like a lot of fun too part in the games. There are two main divisions of twirling. One is the club, which meets on Wednesdays and is open to anyone. The other is the Senior Twirlers com- posed of seven members selected from the club. Their leader is Janet Barndt who is assisted by Irene Martin. The other members are: Judy Skocylas, Barbara Yates, Julia I..aBarge, Joan Kessler and Doris Gorsline, and the two substitutes are: Jackie Burgi and Karen Masters. Junior Twirlers is a club organized to teach students how to twirl. There are no specific requirements except that each member must own a baton. I I At first, each member is taught in- , W 4 my if dividually the fundamental twirls. These A3 must be learned well in order to advance sei 'T 1 , T 53? Q to harder twirls. PH xe'oi2'a ' J I' When you just begin to twirl, it takes a lot of hard practicing, outside of school, as well as inside. After each member completes his fundamental twirls, they then learn a simple rou- tine using all of the twirls they have learned. Each time they learn one more twirl, it is added to the routine.
