O R LEADERS The Tomahawk of 1956 has the honor of being the twenty- seventh edition of the ShenangoYearbook. In compiling this vol- ume the Staff was amazed to find that a number of our teachers have long periods of service at our school. Mr. Johnston and Mr. McCollough top the list with a thirty-year record. It is in- teresting to note that both of these men taught in the township before the present building was completed. In 1926 Mr. Johnston taught Latin, general science, civics, and English in the build- ing which, at the present time, houses the Grace Bible Commu- nity Church. He was also football, basketball, and baseball coach. That same year Mr. McCollough taught the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade in a building on Route 88 across from Zingaro's. He later joined the high school staff as physical education in- structor and assistant coach. Miss Cowmeadow will this year complete twenty-nine years of service, starting to teach when this building was new. She taught English, was adviser to the Freshman Class, and was responsible for instituting the custom of passing the Tomahawk from the Senior to the Junior Class at the Class Day Exercises. We list the above three as our veterans. Our next faculty member in rating Mr Beatty, our present principal has a twenty year record at S H S The Tomahawk Staff and the Student Body congratulate these our veterans and say a hearty 'thankyou for the many services they have rendered our school and community over the years To the remaining corps of administrative workers and faculty we also express our deepest appreciation for serving us so faithfully and for guiding our footsteps during our high school days M SS MARGARET COWMEADOW English 52.
