Mildred Zeigler Mildred is not only president of the senior class but also an effic1ent member of the Annual Staff She has been an honor student for four years and was president of the junior class and vice president of the sophomore class. Her extra curricular activaties include Girl Reserves, Girls Chorus, Junior Play Cast, and Senior Play Staff She was also on the newspaper staff Mildred was born in East New Castle and has attended no other school except Shenango. Her favorite program is Easy Aces She likes to read, her favor1te subject is English, and her am bition is to become a secretary Frances Kruck Frances is one of those per sons who is always looking for a good t1me She likes to sing and dance and spends a lot of time at the Far East Dance Hall Her fav- orite orchestra is Kay Kyser, and she likes the song, 'Darn That Dream . She was born in Am bridge but has attended Shenango for twelve years She displayed her acting ability by taking leading roles in the junior and senior class plays She belonged to Girl Reserves and Girls Chorus and was assistant editor of the Annual. Frances also played class basketball, was secretary of the senior class, and was an honor student. Her favorite radio pro gram is 'Those We Love Norman Currie Norman is c e of our 'muscle' men who helped Shenango win many victories during football season. Skating and eating cake occupy most of Norman's time His favorite subject is science, and the color he likes best is blue. Norman was born in Weigletcwn and attended grade school in N Dorothy Shaffer Dorothy is vice president of the senior class and has taken part in many activit1es during her four years in high school. She was a member of Girl Reserves for four years, becoming its pres ident in her last year. She played basketball as a freshman and sophomore and became manager of the Girls Varsity in her senior year. Dorothy took roles in the junior and sen ior plays and was active on the Shen Hi Crier Lavender is Do favorite color, and her amb1t1on is to be a dress designer B cause she possesses a pleas1ng per sonality, Dot dislikes unhappiness about her She is also one of the senior honor students. Jack Gill Jack has served as class treas urer during both his sophomore and senior years. His ambition is to make a million, and with all this experience he should be able to handle it very well. He is a me ber of the Boys Varsity Club, Hi Y, and the class basketball team Jack was also manager of 4:7 on the baseball team and assistant manager of the basketball squad. JJNIORS OF '38 39 In the latter nalf of the year 1958, our JUHIOP class held an e1ect1on of Off1CBTS which resulted in the followung pres1dent, Lildred Z91V16T vuce presldent, Marlan Hay, secretary, Georve Polen1ck, treasurer, B111 Latham Our class advisor was hm Edwin Beatty. The approximate number of gunlors was seventy elght, but later we were minus three, mak1ng seventy flve to begin SeD10FSq Near the beglnning of the year, the juniors held a party 1n the aud itorlum he had games and danclng as entertalnnent and an abundance of refresh nents On ADF11 21, 1939, we pre ented our f1FSt dramatlc production, entltled 'Aunt Tillie Goes To Town , wh1ch proved to be a great succe On June 2 we honored the sex ers with an elaborate prom, whlch we hone they liked, as we junxors had an engoyable t1me 1n preparlng for and attending lt On June 6, the senlors 1nv1ted us to a soc1al time ln the form of a plOH1C whlch was held at Stoughton's Beach During our junlor year ve had a dellghtful time 1n everythlng we partlcioated, and we v1sh to thank our worthy 8lV1SOT, Beatty, for helping us to make this posslble Kiiiiii SZNIORS OF 1940 In the fall of 1939, seventy flve wonderful seniors entered the Study dall. Yr Beatty was our nome roo teacher, and 1185 Cowmeadow, our class advlsor The f1FSt meet1ng was held to elect the class Off1C6PS Those chosen were :resi dent, Mildred Zelgler, Vice Pres1dent, Dorothy Shaffer, Secretary, lrances Kruck, Treasurer, Jack G1l1 On December 1, the sen1ors gave thelr class play, 'Tempest and Sunshlneu. In February an engoyable tlme was had at the home of Larlan nay Tlls party was held for the cast and staff of the sen1or play An Annual sales contest was held between two teams of the senlor room, and on arch lc, the losers gave a party for the winning team. A very pleasant tlme was engoyed by a large group of senlors At a meetlng 1n early Apr1l, the followung people were chosen to be Senlor Day speakers Class Prophet, Dorothy Shaffer' Class .i1l, Burdell Stelterg Class Knocker, Rose Maricone, Class Poem, Larian Young, Class Song, Frances Kruck Class Donors, Lois Badger and Ray Fredericksg Class IHstory, Larian Hay. On May 31, the juniors held a lovely prom for the graduating class, and on June 6, the seniors, in turn, held a picnic for the juniors.

Joh Adamczyk John is one of our representatives from the Boro His favorite flower is the rose and his color, green. His hobby is music, and his ambition is to attend a music school John doesn't like people who are 'stuck up any better than he does the dentist, whom he especially dislikes John doesn't have time to loaf in a hangout . Be was born in Sharpsville and later moved to New Castle, where he attended school at South New Castle Boro, St Philips an James, Ben Franklin, and New Castle High School. Be entered Shenango as a ju ior and in his senior year very capably acted 4, a negro role in the class play. ii- Florence Alsopp Florence is a clever brown eyed miss who, being friendly herself, admires friendliness She has not always attended Shenango, having received edu cation 1n Rose Avenue School, Ben Franklin Ju lor high, and 133 New Castle High School Her fav orite color is blue, her pastime chooses history and typing as her favorites. Per ambition is to be a stenographer. During her two years in Shenango, Florence was a faithful member of Girl Re serves, serving on the Cabinet in her senior year. She al o be longed to the G1rls Chorus Lois Badger Y? Lois, another of our senior athletes, played outstanding basketball all four years of high school. As a subject, Jim chooses business arithmetic, and his fav orite color is green All of his years at school have been spent at Shenango Jim played class basketball for four years. In his dunlor year he assisted in the sell ing of tickets for the Junior play and proved to be a very capable salesman member of the H1 Y Club and also served on the Sales Com mlttee of the Annual Jim Jim was a 'ws' should become a salesman af ter graduation Bette Body A pet1te girl of pleasing manners and sweet d1sposit1on is Bette, whose twelve years of school life have been spent at 'henango She says her hob by is sports of various kinds, and ln her senmor year she was a member of the G1r1s Varsity Squad Up to th1s year Bette She greatly admires honesty, and her ambition is to become someone's private secretary During her four years in high school, Bette belonged to the G1rl Reserves and Girls Chorus.
