Qrchestro The orchestra this year was under the direction of Mr. Edgar Anderson. Although greatly diminished in size, rehearsals were carried on as usual, and quite a great amount of new music was presented and learned by the members. The orchestra served as a training group for the orchestral conducting classes, giving! them much practical experience in working with this type of an organization. A group from the .orchestra was chosen to play with the chorus for the concert given at Christmas time. A string group chosen from orchestra members presented several programs during the year, and a number of quartets were also given. Band The band was, as usual, directed this year by Prof. Will H. Ruebush. 'Stu- dents from the Dayton and Harrisonburg High Schools were invited to play with the band and many of them took advantage of the opportunity. Most of the year was spent working on marches, overtures and well-known songs. Members of the band who were interested were given an opportunity to conduct the organization whenever they desired. Une of the chief aims was to promote good ensemble playing.
