L 9' nik X A ff W WW 28 1943 TRACK Five track meets composed the Mustang track season last spring A1 though the Mustangs didnt look too good a few boys proved to be a ieeded as et this year Oburn Herrick sophomore this year placed 2nd in the mile at the Conference meet B111 Masterson brought many needed points for the liustangs running the high and low hurdles Spargur Sullivan Ayres all lettermen will prove useful this year for a successful season The season started out with Shenandoah meeting Villisca twice ln the first Villisca won because Shenandoah was not entered in all the contests bi t after more practice the Mustangs claimed a victory The Red Oak Trigant brought Shenandoah a fourth place with 43V2 points Clarinda made 641f2 for first with Red Oak next with 6415 Master son made 1 point in high and low hurdles and Rotton 1 point in shot and e ond ln discus The Cardinal Relay proved a failure for Shenandoah making 8 points for 8th place In the Conference meet at Red Oak Shenandoah placed 5th only 13 point from second Atlantic easily vion it with 101 points Lettermen were: G. Two members were sent as soloists to the district music conf test at Bedford in addition to those who went in the various vocal groups. Our scholastic standing remained one of the best in school and five members were initiated into the scholastic national honor. society, Torch and Scroll. The new initiates were lanice Bentall, lulia Ferguson, Barbara Kill, Bill Coppock, and Charles Lindberg. A large number ot junior girls participated in and held offices in the Girl Reserves.
