Although our liberly ashore was curtailed at times, and we devoted most of our time anyway tending ships of the oth Fleet. we did take some time to tend to our own welfare. The chaplain and our ship's choir catered to our spiritual needs, when on March 30th they delivered a beautiful Easter Sunrise Service on the signal bridge. A week later. to boost spirits. we had an interdivisional basketball toumament. While S-3 was thrashing opponents, and running away with the championship, the rest of the crew was enjoying the fun and the warm sun at our first Mediterranean picnic. When we were not enjoying 'ttapside liberty, we were crammed on the messdeck watching Kissie Darnell's USO Show. or even better yet, shipmates performing at our talent show. Keeping us abreast of the latest fashions were MR2 Bowen and RMC Boozer, the King and Queen of the Med. No one knows for sure, but rumor has it it that they purchased their fashionable attire a few nights earlier at the Shenandoah Midnight Madness Sale. On hat day, the latest hat fashions received top bllIing. :....s.! is
