Dwight Purdy ASB President asus offlceizs The student body officers began work directly at the close of the 1965-66 school year. Candidates for committee chairmen were screened and selectedg the new chairmen in turn chose their committee members in accordance with a precedent set by the officers that no person may serve on more than one committee. Four of the officers attended a summer leadership council at the University of Oregon. The information they gained about student council workings was passed on to the 1966-67 student council members at a Saturday workshop shortly after school started. The student body officers comprised Executive Council which planned Student Council agendas and initiated a number of new procedures aimed at streamlining business, including a new filing system. Another innovation required that motions be written up before being brought to the council. In addition to their traditional duties, the officers assumed some special responsibilities. Nancy Fraser, historian, assumed re- sponsibility for the main bulletin boardg Kim Iohnsen, vice- president, took on the duties of president during the summer because of Dwight Purdy's absence, Dennis Cory, treasurer, headed the special committee formed to inquire into study in the plaza. On May 31, the 1966-67 officers swore in the 1967-68 officers, thereby ending the school year. ' wr ,Amis Kim Iohnsen Vice-President
