BUSINESS EDUCATION Fred Rasmussen Anita Iackson A new learn and earn program was instituted this year for business education students. The students attended regular morning classesg in the afternoon they went downtown where they were employed by local businessmen. Prerequisites for the program included typing and one other business course. Teachers from Sheldon observed the students on the job and received reports from the employers. In addition to regular- ly scheduled classes, labs were open for athletic enthusiasts and students making up for days they missed. lnOUSU2lAl ARIS Marvin Flowerdew Power mechanics was a popular course offered for the first time this year. Students learned to take apart and assemble engines, including those of their own cars. Another new program was the work-study situa- tion in which students spent the first half of the day at Sheldon taking academic courses, while in the afternoon they reported to various jobs around the city to learn while working and earning wages. Mr. Mattila instructs Pete Forsman and Iohn Brown on the metal lathe. Wesley Lathen CRIVGR GCUCAUOD Students had -'15 fewer accidents after a Driver's Education course at Sheldon High. Beginning driv- ers were taught everything from basic traffic rules to the finer points of parallel parking. In the fall the entire school received a lesson in fast stopping by way of a live demonstration featuring Sheldon students at an outdoor assembly. Stuart Miller
