The girls' track team, coached by Miss Ray- born, had a spectacular season, winning five and losing one. Led by sophomore Karin Wicklund. voted Most Valuable Track Member, and junior Melissa Corum, the team won the 1967 District Championship and took second place at the state meet. Other consistent winners turning in top efforts throughout the season were Karin Stockdale, Charlene Sandberg, and Pam Yarbrough in the 80 meter hurdles, Lindsey Stevenson, Verna Shields, and Barbara Cobb in the 100 yard dash, Verna Shields, lane Kitterman, and Valda Shields in the 220 yard dash, Bea Homer in the 880 yard rung Chris Murdoch and Nan Collie in the javelin throw: and Sue Monteith in the broad jump. lim Wolfe awaits turn to putt. Schwieger swings sweet. Sheldonis Golf Team consisted of ups and downs. With only two returning lettermen, the team had little depth. However, Pat Mal- lory and John Tufts, the returning lettermen, played consistent golf and were followed by sophomore Dave Schwieger and junior lim Wolfe. The Golf Team placed Fifth in District which was played at Cottage Grove. This enabled the team to compete in the State Tournament in Portland on May 22 and 23. Iohn Tufts was voted most valuable player. jim Wolfe and Iohn Tufts confer. 163
