Kadio 611111 Zurzcs in on Kussia Ted Hicks and Arnold Chase examine the intricate system of a radio. The Radio Club enjoyed a very busy year which included setting up and maintain- ing a radio transmitting and receiving sta- tion. The station was located in the sci- ence wing of the school. During the year the Radio Club received broadcasts from Russia. These were used in connection with the Senior Modern Problems classes when they studied a pro- paganda unit. Smficf 611111 Kouirilzufes Students who wanted to contribute their time and energy to support Sheldon's athletic events, joined the efficient Service Club. The members sold tick- ets and checked Student Body cards at football and basketball games. By selling victory ribbons before every game, the Service Club raised money to pay for the letters to go on their uniforms. Pat Willets concentrates on the intricacies of her mosaic top. 671655 gfllb Defmls the llmicfculablc The Art Club kept artistically inclined students busy with a variety of activities. One of these year-long projects included making fiscal calendars which were sold to teachers at the end of the school year. These calendars were designed and deco- rated by the Art Club members. The Sheldon Art Club displayed an Art Exhibit at the Eugene Public Library from January 19th to April 4th. Jim Clifford ponders the problem. Chess Club members were seen throughout the noon hours and before and after school practicing for tournaments. The team competed with many clubs throughout the district. With a combination of brains and strategy, Shel- don's chess team completed a very successful sea- son which ended with a victory over the unde- featablen Thurston, unbeaten in the last nine years. George'Farley follows through strategy.
