Teachers Training and Fu- ture Teachers of America provided an excellent op- portunity for students to practice their teaching skills and to learn new methods. The Teachers Training pro- gram worked in coopera- tion with Meadow Lark and Willakenzie grade schools to offer 17 students the oppor- tunity to assist teachers in actual classroom activities. Future Teachers of America held regularly scheduled meetings throughout the year which featured movies on teaching techniques and guest speakers from the community. CA. and Crashers Training F.T.A. .7. 13.1. Studies World Prvblems IRL President, Karen Thorne, leads discussions. The International Relations League began the year's topic: i'Africa, A Crucible For Social and Political Change. In January, a regional IRL con- ference was held at North Eugene High School and in February, a state conference was held at the University of Oregon. Other activities included arrang- ing a display case and attending various meetings at the Univer- sity. 27.6. 65,4 . Fracfifes Salesmanship The Distributive Education Club of America practiced their salesman- ship abilities by operating the school store before and after school and during both lunch periods. Students designed and set up displays in the show case showing school supplies and new fashions. Field trips provided knowledge of mass production and of sales tech- niques. Trips included a visit to Bobis Hamburgers, to see the organ- ization of the business, and an all day visit to the larger department stores in Portland. DECA student, Lloyd Germyn, sells student store goodies during the lunch period.

French-Spanish students look at displays of Spanish art. fauguagc Lflubs The highlight of the year for Latin Club was the annual Roman Banquet held in May. The banquet was served by first year students acting as slaves. At meetings throughout the year, mem- bers viewed films and heard speakers on various aspects of Latin life. The French and Spanish clubs joined forces to share international experiences. At Christmas time, members sang native Christmas carols in their respective lan- guages, entertaining everyone. On Ground Hog Day, the club held an all-language-club sing-along. German club members spent a busy year preparing for various activities. At Christmas time, students caroled at Sacred Heart Hospital and old peoples' homes throughout Eugene. Club members helped to provide fun and entertainment for the student body at the annual talent show sponsored by the AFS. At the end of the year, the Bavarian Luau gaiety provided gaiety and full stomachs for everyone. ,X Everyone joins in at the Ground Hog Day party.
