It was a busy year for student council. Several emergency meetings had to be called to com- plete thc regular business of appropriating Stu- dent Body funds for an Ampex repair kit, de- ciding on the standing of Hi-Y as a school club, financing rally buses, approving rally uniforms and tryouts, promoting a bond issue for a Shel- don area recreation center, and amending the school ronstitution. Diana Deverell eloquently defends her position. The sophomores were seen but rarely heard.

During the summer, the ASB officers attended a Student Council Workshop where they received general information about the purpose and functions of student council, the responsibility of the officers, and the roll of student leader- ship within the school. The officers then planned a day for Sheldon's newly elected representatives to learn these things. The officers attended Region VI, a subsection of the Ore- gon Association of Student Councils, where school leaders gathered to discuss mutual problems. At the 1965 Spring Conference, Tina was elected to serve as secretary for the following year. The officers put their dreams, plans, organization, work and skill in high gear in hopes of creating a successful and active year at Sheldon. They strived to achieve total partici- pation of the Student Body, good student-faculty relations, the creation of a good learning atmosphere, and a spirited enthusiasm for school activities. Realizing that only part of these goals had been accomplished, they hoped a continued effort would be made by future ASB officers.
