Bill Boldt sinks a long putt. The Irish golf team distinguished itself on golf courses around the state this year. Paced by Senior Bill Boldt and Junior Pat Mallory, the linkers were led to state by placing second in the district match. Strong support was given to the first flighters by Senior John Knut- son and Juniors John Tufts, and Charles Milhaupt. Bill Boldt was medalist at the district match but could not compete in the state meet. John Knutson was selected as the Most Valuable Golfer by his teammates. tm. . 5. The Boys' and Girls' Tennis teams spent their seasons playing the various 5-A-l schools for practice games, as the team record had no bearing on who qualified for district on May 13 and 14-. The district tournament was held at Sheldon and the top four singles and doubles qualified for state, held in Corvallis May 21 and 22. No one from the boys' team qualified for state, but the doubles team of Christie Clausen and Karen Johnson from the girl's team took 4th in district and ad- vanced to state. Jim Degner, most valuable tennis player, set to drive a fast one. Karen Johnson and Christie Clausen, most inspiration- al player, waiting for service.
