!Senior History Continued! Kathryn Van Grouw and Allan Church joined our happy throng in the second grade. Kathryn was not here very long before she was sent out to the hall The teacher told her she was talking to Joe Brower, but Kathryn says that Joe didn't talk with her' Remember when Betty Mulder came to Sheldon in third grade she had the cutest blond pipe curls! From her actions we all gathered she d d not like our company Third grade is memorable in another way we gan to use ink' Do you recall how hard we tried to get our continuous ovals to look like tunnels9 In the fourth grade, some of us cons1dered ourselves full blooded opera stars The reason we took part in the operetta, 'Jack and the Beanstalkn The fourth grade was 1n one small scene, and we knew noddng of the existence of any other part of the performance! At last, we were old enough to go to the second floor We ha four teachers 1U fifth grade After recess in the afternoon, the four teachers taught for fifteen minutes 1n each room It was also during our stay ln fifth grade that a group of girls started playing Ncorner kickn This game caused many a feud between the boys and girls he had Miss Russell and Miss Danielson for our teachers 1n sixth grade These teachers were very pretty, and were liked by everyone It was during th1s year that Delphine Hascall and Joyce Ellerbroek be gan with us Marion Posthumus attended Sheldon School for one per1od of six weeks this was Just long enough for him to splatter 1nk over When we entered seventh grade our egos were once more 1nflated one group of girls began calling themselves by their last names Cguess they thought themselves a bit more important than anyone else!D It was 1n this grade that MISS Delanef introduced the word Hsuperfluousn to us Everyone remembers V153 Furlong, our eighth grade science teacher She once told Mlke Dailey that he had a nice slushy face to slap! If we remember correctly she d1d slap h1m' host of us w1ll never forget the f1rst day in Sheldon High School' Remember the many new faces the new teachers, unfamiliar halls strange desks with only one armo The local toplc Ed uordon, was one of the new ibut well known! freshmen , i . -- be- . . d all the girls in the room! fSenior History Continuedl Dick Samelson Darlene Meyer and Gladys Meyners entered SHS dur ing our sophomore year NA Date with Judy' was the outstanding event of our Junior year Nr Patchen and Mr Markwalder were remarkable directors in spite of their bubble gum le had loads of fun decorating the community building for the Junior Senlor prom It is remarkable how many good ideas that one person, Miss Bassett, can have! Anyone that had Mr Mielcarek for his tory the last semester will heartily agree that he was quite a teacher' During our last year in high school, we had two stage productions new senior joined us Dick Amundson, who hails from Council Bluffs noble member of our class, Erwin Cuperus, was selected as 'king of the hobosn Of course, we were all proud of Claire de Lee Monk when she be- came homecoming queen Maybe Mr Dugan nickname some of his that he took it good In spite of the we love them one and will remember students gave naturedly J hard times we all, and will the seniors of l9L9 because of the him Wsnifflesn Cwe might add,too, gave our teachers we are sure that think of them often after we are all out of school If for a moment, you think you had a tough time 1 a particular high school subject or that the teacher was strlct think of the many, many things he or she taught you OOO OO to hold dear to our hearts--'H M S Pinaforen and WI Remember MamaW.One -- .
