in Both the Ulcl and ew. XVhen the present Shelbyville High School was constructed in 1910-1911, it cost 899,360 Our new high school has cost over ten times that much. The junior High School wing was constructed in 1917 with a cost of 9670,000. Built in 1922, the Paul Cross Cyninasium was enlarged on the east and west in 1941 to include the industrial arts department. XVe, the class of 1959, will never reside in the new school, hut we have many fond memories of six years in an old red brick building on Second Street. The stairs, worn with thousands of feet. and the desks, marked by busy hands, are all part of mn' school life. The new school will be very crisp and clean, quite unlike the dowdy and slightly tarnished form of the old. XVhile new things have so many more modern conveniences, old things have a relaxed air and an informality that is hard to equal.
